The day that Tyler realizes you catch more flys with honey than with vinegar – I’m doomed. A temper tantrum, I can deal with, and resist. Big pleading eyes and that squeeky little toddler voice saying “peeeese?” — that’s what gets me.
This morning when we got ready to leave for daycare, Tyler decided he wanted to go with me. He said “I wanna ride in mommy’s car”. Kevin told him that he was going to take him to Kathy’s, and that I had to go to work. Tyler looked at me and said “can I go to work with you mommy?”. I told him that I wished he could come with me, but he had to go to Kathy’s. He asked “can I go to Kathy’s with you mommy, pleeeease?”. I couldn’t resist. I told him I would take him to Kathy’s. (I told you, I’m a sucker for the sweetness!)
Then on the way to Kathy’s we decided to go through the center of town. Tyler saw the library there and asked “can we go to the liberry, mommy?” I said we could go this afternoon after I pick him up from Kathy’s. He said “can we turn around and go now, mommy, pleeeeease?” Boy, if the library had been open, I can pretty safely say we would have been late getting to Kathy’s… 🙂 I told him that the library was closed, that the door was locked and I didn’t have the key. He pointed to my keys in the ignition switch and said “there’s keys, mommy”. I said “yes, I have keys, but not the right key”. He thought about this for a few seconds and then stated “someone does!”. Hard to argue with that, so I just told him “yes, I’m sure someone does, but I don’t know who”. He’s such a clever little monkey…
