I have to admit, some kid’s shows really are educational. I honestly believe that watching Word World has helped Tyler to start being able to identify letters of the alphabet. For the past month as we play with his foam alphabet letters, he has been starting to get some of them right! He definitely knows the letters x,o,t,w,l,s and p.
When we were at Kate’s the other day, he stopped and looked at the stop sign and said “mommy, p-o-t-s, stop!”. I let him see how proud and excited I was that he knew the letters. That’s another recent development, him showing an interest in what the letters are and what they say. He brought one of his books to me the other day which had the word “toolbox” on the back. He pointed to each letter “x-o- l-o- and o- and t!” He asked what the b was and I told him. Then has asked what it spells!
For some reason he seems to want to go right-to-left but I figure he’ll get that straightened out in time. Right now I just want to encourage his interest without overloading him and making him lose interest. But it is hard because I am really excited about it! 🙂
